Zell Miller's article is subtitled Why I Skipped the Boston Convention. I would got out on a limb and say the Senator was not given the warmest of invitations. I would go even further and say that the DNC leadership was more interested in having Bill O'Reilly wander the convention floor than the senator from Georgia.

But in reality, Miller is a Democratic by association, not by belief. He is of the old school, when the South was a one-party region. The Democratic counterparts in the South were never as liberal as those in the North. The political alignment didn't really change until the early 1990s, culminating in the 1994 landslides.

Anyhow, Senator Miler is more than welcome in New York. I look forward to his speech.
