Calling Bush "not smart enough", as a surrogate on FNC right now has just done, isn't going to work any longer, either. Touting his military service in Vietnam, which should be above reproach, is apparently not enough to establish national security credentials.
Claiming he would have gone to Iraq even without WMD's being thought present neuters his standing in criticisizing Bush on Iraq from now to election day, while opening the door for the President to further mock Kerry's nuances on the subject.
Geeze. Just let the guy talk. The more the spotlight is on him, the better things get for Bush. Perhaps the RNC should just donate the four days of the convention to Kerry so he can show yet another nuanced side to his candidacy. Maybe this time he would acknowledge the troops in the field right now protecting his right to flip-flop at will.
