I was impressed by the great turnout of people who want to ensure the continuation of the Bush administration. I was not surprised by the absence of all major media, despite the press releases we issued. The Tennessean was so excited by the large showing at the Democratic Party headquarters last week. Don't they want to compare?
Nathan shared with you that a couple of passersby decided to give us a lovely view of their middle fingers. That's such a low-class move. I tried to think honestly, really honestly, about my own days as a Democratic campaign worker. I would never have considered doing such a thing. What kind of debate are you offering when you flip someone off? Is that the best you've got? If you feel that strongly that Bush is wrong for our country, park your car and let's talk about it. We need more of that. I know I shouldn't care because there are idiots on both sides of the political aisle, but I was disappointed. Why must we have personal hatred towards those who have a different political perspective? I don't get that. To paraphrase Sean Hannity, "I'll go out to dinner with you, have a beer with you, I just don't want people who share your political beliefs to run the country." It doesn't get any more personal than that for me. The old cliche holds true -- some of my best friends are Democrats.
