Boots Wins the Gold at the Ferrett Olympics

The article goes to state that the FO is an annual event. If real people only compete every four years, is there so much demand for the ferrets to go annually? Perhaps every two years would be appropriate, but I have been unable to determine whether ferrets do well in winter competition.
