I could not believe when I read that Kerry wanted to return to viewing terrorists as a nuisance. Well, I guess I could believe it ... unfortunately. It's just completely beyond anything I could fathom thinking myself. This is the most clear example of Kerry's September 10 mentality. Here is the quote:

In Washington, Republican Party chief Ed Gillespie criticized Kerry for saying in an interview in The New York Times Magazine that, "We have to get back to the place we were, where terrorists are not the focus of our lives, but they're a nuisance." He appeared to equate terrorism to prostitution and illegal gambling, saying they can be reduced but not ended.

The entire NYT article can be read here, but be warned that (as expected) the author heaps praise and adulation on the thoughtful, nuanced senator to the point of making me naseous.

Let me break out my "crazy man quotes" for a moment here: THIS ATTITUDE IS FRIGHTENING! THIS MAN CANNOT LEAD OUR COUNTRY IN A WAR ON TERROR. AARRGGGHHHH!!
