A middle-school teacher named Shiba Pillai-Diaz was asked to take down her picture of President Bush and the First Lady. Several parents complained that it was political favoritism and demanded that it be removed or that a picture of Kerry also be posted. If John Kerry becomes president (whoa ... I just had a moment of intense fear and confusion), then he certainly can have his place in the classroom. Until then, President Bush remains alone because he is our leader!

It gets worse because the principal does not back up his teacher! Instead, he told her that she had caused "hatred and anger" and told her to get out.

We have gotten so afraid of offending people, and this is particularly seen in our schools. We weren't allowed to have any Christmas decorations when I was teaching, even if they were accompained by symbols of other faiths. A couple of teachers even asked why I felt it necessary to have such a large copy of the Constitution in my American Government classroom. I guess freedom offends some people as well.
